The University of Virginia Architecture School is undergoing a major construction effort with the cafe renovation being one component of this larger effort.The collaboration between Schwartz Kinnard Architects and CDA Design Studio implemented a palette of modest materials such as birch veneer plywood, homosote and resilient flooring.

The combination of carefully juxtaposed materials combined with a muted palette accented with splashes of bright red gives the cafe a stylish panache that establishes it as the cornerstone of the architecture school campus.
